Benefits of Reiki While Under going Cancer Treatment

Reiki includes an energy therapy that promotes healing by placing your body within a deep phase of relaxation. During the relaxed state, your body could permit your cells to go back to their natural stage of wellbeing and balance. Reiki possesses a positive effect upon every form of sickness from small things such as stomachaches and colds to systemic diseases like cancer and heart disease. Reiki could be especially efficient in assisting individuals in coping with the several challenges undergoing cancer treatment can bring upon an emotional, mental and physical level.

Upon a physical level, it could assist in alleviating the side effects of traditional treatments like chemotherapy and radiation. For instance, one of the more typical side effects experienced by many cancer patients includes fatigue. Following Reiki treatments, patients are energized and have the ability to perform things they did not think was probable - maybe attending a child's play or going to the store. It provides patient’s energy as they require it, permits them to relax as they require it, and allows them to rest better than they might without it. Upon an emotional and mental level, this exact same relaxation response could assist in calming the fear, worry and anxiety that go along with this disease.

Thus far, proof of the advantages of Reiki used for cancer patients has been anecdotal. But, many studies are trying to discover scientific reasons as to how Reiki will work in the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medication and in the Cleveland Clinic. With associations such as Society of Integrative Oncology, a multiple disciplinary association of experts, touting the benefits of complementary cancer recovery and treatment, newer methodologies, involving Reiki are getting more popular. More oncologists and cancer centers are starting to realize the advantages these treatments – at one time dismissed with snickers by the ones “in-the-know” – are offering for the ones who do not know where they should turn to find the solution to problems such as the stress and pain related to cancer and its traditional treatments.

As with most complementary treatments, Reiki will take a holistic approach – treating spirit, body and mind – and is natural and safe. Most cancer patients who’ve attempted it noted a feeling of relaxation, peace, and well-being as the treatment was complete. Reiki will lead your body's molecules to shake at an increased intensity, dissolving all energy blockages which cause disease as well as disharmony. It helps in easing stress, controlling pain, or lessening the side effects of conventional treatments such as chemotherapy, involving nausea and additional debilitating issues for mesothelioma patients. It’s additionally considered to better immune function. The average mesothelioma life expectancy is around a year following diagnosis.

What we can say, is that reiki, like many other complementary and alternative therapies, can play a role in comprehensive cancer care and better the livelihoods of those affected by cancer.

Intentions

Intention according to the mighty Wikipedia is defined as:
An agent's intention in performing an action is his or her specific purpose in doing so, the end or goal that is aimed at, or intended to accomplish. Whether an action is successful or unsuccessful depends at least on whether the intended result was brought about. Other consequences of someone's acting are called unintentional. However, recent research in experimental philosphy has shown that other factors may also matter for whether or not an action is counted as intentional. Intentional behavior can also be just thoughtful and deliberate goal-directedness.

As my Reiki master has said, Reiki is an intent driven system and intent is the key to using Reiki energy healing and attunements.

I remember clearly this story that she shared about an experiment that was done on intentions.

Dr Leonard Laskow and Dr Glen Rein in early 90's did an experiment of intention on cancer cells.

Science was beginning to be able to demonstrate these foundational principles of Cellular Expansion and Healing. As new technology has emerged, capturing the impact of intention was becoming possible.

Healer Leonard Laskow was recruited by American biologist Glen Rein to test the most effective healing strategy for inhibiting the growth of cancer cells. Rein prepared five different Petri dishes containing identical numbers of cancer cells and then asked Laskow to send out a different intention while holding each one.

The requested intentions were:

1. The natural order be reinstated and the cells’ growth rate return to normal.
2. A Taoist visualization that entails imagining that only three of the cancer cells remained in the Petri dish.
3. No intention, but simply to ask God to have His will flow through Laskow's hands
4. He offers unconditional love to the cancer cells, which involved meditating on a state of love and compassion.
5. Visualizing the cells dematerialize, either going into the light or the 'void', this was the only truly destructive intention.

As a yardstick of Laskow’s effectiveness, Rein would measure the amount of radioactive thymidine absorbed by the cancer cells, an indicator of the growth rate of malignant cells.

So, what do you feel is the result expected?

I have been talking about unconditional love and gratitude that I clearly thought the best result would have been by giving love and thanks and therefore number 4 above would have provided the best result?

Among Laskow’s various intentions the most powerful were undirected intentions asking the cells to return to the natural order, which inhibited the cancer cells’ growth by 39 %. So, basically, the 1st intention was the most powerful.

Acquiescing to God’s will with no specific request (the third intention) was only about half as effective, inhibiting the cells by 21 %.

Using the Taoist visualization was also about 21 % effective.

An unconditional love and acceptance of the way things were had no effect either way, so 0% effective.

Imagining the cells dematerialized was also 0% effective.

Imagine my surprise that giving unconditional love did not heal the cancel cells and did not inhibit it's growth at all.

In these two instances, the problem may have been that the thought was simply not focused enough.

And by giving unconditional love to your cancer cells, you are effectively telling your cancer cells that you love them and they are welcome to do as they please ... to continue growing and spreading because they are loved unconditionally.

Imagining the cells dematerialized did not work too because again, it is not focused enough. The cancer cells were normal cells before. Thus, what do you want it to dematerialise into. If it actually dematerialised, you will be lacking those cells.

As such, asking the cancer cell to return to normal and not to grow anymore is the best intention that works.

When used in combination with the Taoist visualisation of only having 3 cells remaining while the rest remained to normal increased the inhibition to 41%.

In essence, you do not want to love your cancer cells or any diseased cells for the matter of fact and you do not want the cells to dematerialise entirely either. So best, we ask these cells to go back to normal, as they were, healthy cells.

And love your normal healthy cells so that they remain as normal healthy cells.

If you have carpal tunnel syndrome becuase like me, you are using the computer too long and therefore there is a narrowing of the tunnels and your wrists or thumbs start hurting. Then have the intention that that tunnel is returning to normal and there is no more damage or narrowing of the tunnel.

My doctor recently told be I have 2 slipped disc on my neck, showed me exactly where these discs were on the MRI. So, I have been using Reiki to heal it and also using intentions.

I have an image of the MRI in my head which shows me the 2 discs going back to their place on my back-bone. I literally have a x-ray cartoon playing in my head that the 2 discs have just with a flick of my Reiki hands, moved back into place.

My pain has mostly gone away and the vertigo and headaches have definitely gone away.

So, just using Reiki healing and the right intentions can heal everything.

Also, when healing, I do it for the highest good for all concerned. I do not have any other rules, only 1 golden rule which is to do it for the highest good for all concerned. All concerned for me includes the healer, the healee, mankind, everything surrounding us, Mother Earth, Father Sky, the Universe, the souls, the Divine, the angels and the guardians .... all concerned.

Me and Reiki

My Reiki journey and experience has been quite interesting.

Many years ago, I had signed up to go for Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 class taught by a Master from India named Master Rohini. From what I have heard of her, she is truly a remarkable person.

However, due to work and travel circumstances, I could not attend her class and instead was replaced by my dear wife.

JJ who had already gone for level 1 and 2 had introduced me to Reiki and encouraged me to attend the classes as he was doing his refresher and becoming a Master.

Nevertheless, my dear wife benefited from Reiki and come out of it a brand new motivated and energized person.

I still did not completely understand what Reiki was about but wifey explained to me about the healing aspects of it.

Those were the days that I had severe headaches as well as severe pain in my heel or Achilles tendons and she would do Reiki on me and the pain would go away.

I thought at that time that Reiki was truly marvelous where you could just use the energy from the Universe to heal someone.

I was determined to attend the next classes offered by Master Rohini and waited and waited and waited and waited but she never returned. I was even tempted to go to India and take her class there. But in the end, we realised that her life had moved on to a higher plain and she was no longer teaching either.

Also, I had to go to Miri to work and soon Reiki was something that remained in the back burner.

Then my work brought me back to KL and my quest for finding a Reiki master began again. In a little bit of rush to do it, I settled for a master in Gombak that my friends had found and happily did Reiki 1 with Master Subramaniam Narayanan.

Master Subra has trained many people in Malaysia over the years and is a major in the army. His lineage has not been clearly defined but he has taken Reiki under different masters and also uses Karuna Reiki. Among his masters include James D'arcy, Viginia Samdal, Frank A'java Peters, Dr Sukumaran and Pandit Gopal Dass.

In level 1, which was 1.5 days, we had 4 attunements and were taught how to heal ourselves, the hand positions as well as healing others.

He insisted that we practice Reiki 1 for minimum of 21 days before he would teach us Reiki 2 and then I took Reiki 2 also under Master Subra about 5 weeks after Reiki 1.

Reiki 2 we had 2 attunements and he taught us the 3 main Usui Reiki symbols which is Chu Ku Rei, Se He Kei and Hon Sha Je Sho Nen.

He also taught us 21 Karuna Reiki symbols which he said is highly secret and cannot be shared.

Master Subra had a quite interesting but sometimes condescending style of teaching, but then again, he is a major in the army.

I enjoyed both my Reiki Levels and was hungry for more. But a year passed and I had no longer heard from Master Subra. I was later to find out that he had stopped teaching in the Gombak center due to some tenancy disputes.

Also, Master Subra was now picking students who could do Reiki 3A and Masters rather than just allowing any students to go to him.

Nevertheless, my hunger for Reiki never died and I was determined to learn Advance Reiki 3A and Reiki Master Teacher 3.

After some basic search and meeting, I decided to go from my Reiki 3A and Reiki Masters with Master Kayce Goh.

Each level was 2 days in length and was done over 2 weekends back to back.

I completed my 3A on 17 April and my Masters on 24 April.

Kayce was an excellent teacher and I was blessed to have had 1 on 1 classes with her for both 3A and Masters which gave me more personal teaching and further understanding of Reiki. I am truly grateful to have found such a master.

She conducts her classes with such serenity of her own home that you feel immediately comfortable and relaxed. She is willing to answer any questions and is very clear and confident when teaching.

If anyone would like for Kayce to be your master, I would highly recommend it.

I do intend to start teaching soon but in all likelihood, this will only be sometime in mid July onwards. This is mainly because I will be away for work until mid-July.

Also, as I do  not yet have a space to conduct my Reiki classes, thus, the classes are going to be held as and when there are enough students for me to rent premises elsewhere. My Reiki journey and attunments have been interesting and from the many things I have learned including my deep connection with the soul that is I as well as my guardians and angels and God, I believe that when I do teach, I will be a good teacher as I always do things for the highest good of all people involved.

Reiki Principles

Yes, there are many Reiki blogs out there and yes, I decided to start one of my own.


I have recently attained Reiki Mastership and intend to start teaching Reiki.


Today, I start with a very basic blog to share the Reiki Precepts or Principles as set out by Reiki founder Dr Mikao Usui.
